Mite Zapper, LLC is located in Michigan USA. Our company was established primarily to develop an economical and effective means for controlling varroa mites through non chemical methods.
The founder of Mite Zapper, LLC, John Sinanis, is an enthusiast beekeeper of over 15 years - primarily caring for his own bees as a hobby. Over this time he had gained valuable experience in the field of beekeeping and has enjoyed several years of maintaining healthy colonies.
The inventor of the MiteZapper® is Dr. Zachary Huang. Zachary Huang is an associate professor in entomology at the Michigan State University. During the early 80s, Dr. Huan obtained a national scholarship to study honey bees in Canada. After obtaining his Ph.D. he moved with his family to University of Missouri at Columbia to work with plant mites. November 1st, 1998, he came to Michigan State University as an assistant professor of entomology. He became tenured and was promoted to be an associate professor Oct of 2004. At MSU, his main responsibilities include extension, research and teaching. He is known for developing the social inhibition model (at UIUC), then MiteZapper (MSU), his cyberbee.net (started in 1997 but developed mainly at MSU), and award winning photographs. He was awarded the J.I. Hambleton Award for Outstanding Research by the Eastern Agricultural Society of North American Inc. August 2008. Dr. Huang has lectured at over 300 presentations around the world surrounding honey bees, including the varroa mite infestation.
Our
company was quickly taken by Dr. Huang's invention of the MiteZapper®. We have spent the last 5
years developing the product for commercial use. Laboratory and field
testing has proven the MiteZapper to be 85-95% effective in controlling
varroa mites.
We are excited to have released the MiteZapper® for sale and we look forward to hearing from you.
